Task

During 2020, Vodafone Ukraine has improved the infrastructure to cover 24 regions of Ukraine with high-quality 4G communication. Until then, many small villages did not have access to 4G, so it was impossible to use its opportunities for leisure and local business development.
At the same time, a significant number of Ukrainians faced the problem of organizing their leisure time: due to Covid-19, they lost the opportunity to travel and engage in tourism abroad. So we asked ourselves: how can mobile communication be used to organize leisure, promote domestic tourism, help local businesses and increase 4G traffic?

Solution

To solve the problem, we have developed a mobile site Find and follow: Village Routes, which promotes local tourism and helps local businesses. The site allows you to choose the best route for safe green tourism and avoid crowds near the tourist locations of large cities. Users were able to enjoy historical monuments and picturesque landscapes in a number of regions of Ukraine that are in the 4G coverage area of Vodafone. Village Routes also introduce the user to local small businesses: farms, wineries, lavender fields, and even snail farms for gastronomic lovers.
To tell users about the benefits of traveling in the regions of Ukraine and the situation of local tourism, together with Vodafone Ukraine we conducted a series of online interviews with journalists, representatives of local businesses, and district administrations. And users of social networks got acquainted with the project through Facebook and Instagram pages.

Result

  • As a result, we created a flexible resource that will develop along with Vodafone's infrastructure in the future and will be enriched with new routes even for the most demanding tourists.
  • During its existence, the site has reached 72,000 visitors.
  • The project's Facebook page reached more than a million.
  • The press conferences gathered 8,500 listeners.
  • The media published 67 materials about the project.
